"Green" Decorating Ideas from the Spa
Like many good intentions, attempts to be more environmentally friendly can fall by the wayside when we get pressed for time during the holidays. Fortunately, there are a few simple ways to stay on track and still create a beautifully festive atmosphere.
Try an Artificial Tree(s)
Many people celebrate the holidays with a decorated tree. Although real trees are biodegradable, artificial trees are often considered a more sustainable option as they are reusable and pose a much lower fire risk.
Use Energy Efficient Lights
LED (light-emitting diode) strings of decorative lights are gaining in popularity because of their long life and energy efficiency. Unlike traditional lights, LEDs use a chip that determines their specific colour. Because LEDs don't rely on a tinted glass casing, they do not suffer from fading and make use of more durable plastic covers.
Keep your Ornaments and Decorations
How often do you purchase new holiday supplies? Do you usually find handfuls of fodder for the waste bin when you haul out the decoration boxes?
